Mr Mairs, consisting of a purse of sovereigns; while the members of Mr Mairs’ family, namely, Miss Mairs and Masters Frank and John Mairs, were also the recipients of tokens of regard and affection from the members of the Church. The Rev. Mairs returned thanks for the presentations, and expressed his gratitude to the people of Hamilton for the many kindnesses extended to him and his family during their residence in the town. He reviewed the work of the Primitive Methodist Church in Hamilton since its inception, when services were held in the Volunteer Hall in, Knox Street, up to the time of entering the new Church erected in London Street. Preachi g stations have been opened in many districts in and around Hamilton and Cambridge. Mr Mairs bespoke for his successor the same kindly feeling that had attended his ministry during his sojourn among them.
