“UNCLE TOM’S CABIN”
On Saturday evening next “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” will be staged at the Public Hall, and local play-goers will have an opportunity of witnessing a play famous throughout the civilised world. Miss EHa Carrington is world renowned as “ Topsy, the imp,” and Mr Taylor and the company in support give splendid performances of the different characters they represent. The many sensational incidents of the play are made realistic by good acting and clever stagecraft. Lovers of Little Eva will weep at the death-bed scene of that angel child; sympathisers of poor Uncle Tom will pity him when subjected to the cruelties of that arch-fiend Legree; admirers of Topsy will scream with laughter at her grotesque antics and funny sayings ; and the troubles of brave George Harris and his faithful wife Eliza will be followed with interest and sympathy.
