A GAMBLING RAID.

On tha Foxton Club.

It has been repotted to the police that certain gambling schools exist in Foxton and for Some time past the officers of the law haye been keeping a dose watch pn a number of suspects, but the fates have been ‘‘ agin the men in blue,” and one or two proposed raids have had to be abandoned. However, on Thursday evening Constable Woods received a “tip” and entered the Foxton Club. He passed through the billiard room and entered a back room where he found gambling in full swing. Knowing those present obviated the necessity for making any arrests. The visit was a complete surprise and the sequel will be heard before the Magistrate.

The raid has created considerable excitement in the town.
