WATER SUPPLY.
It is costing residents of Foxtou who have run out of water is 6d per cask for the precious liquor. Many people are drawing their supply from the river and the borough windmill, while Mr Geo. Gray is kindly supplying artesian water to numbers of people free of cost. This shortage should further impress upon the Borough Council the urgent necessity for ACTION. We hope the Council will not allow the subject of an adequate water supply to bang fire for an indefinite period, but will give townspeople an opportunity of expressing an opinion. Gr Heunessy put a resolution through at the last meeting of the Council that tenders be called for the sinking of two artesian wells and the Mayor promised to inierview Mr Ward, a capable engineer, on Mie subject. But so lar this is only touching on the fringe. A special meeting of the Council should be called to discuss the subject and an engineer appointed to draw up a comprehensive scheme to be referred to the ratepayers for approval or rejection. It is the duty of the Council to make a move and that without delay.
