THE ROWING CLUB.
The local Rowing Club’s property has unfortunately fallen into such a state of disrepair that the trustees have decided to lock up the premises, until such time as the Club’s affairs are put under responsible control. Had the trustees not taken this step, they
would have been lacking in their
duty. The manner in which the * Club’s affairs have been ppaducted this season is nothing short'" of scandalous.. The premises have been allowed tp remain open, and have been used,£s a, public convenience ; seats of outriggers have •been thrown on the floor, oars neglected, boats allowed tojreinain in' the river, seats broken, and filth written in the boat book. Unfinancial members and pther irresponsible persons have taken the boats when it suited them, etc. Never since the Club has been in existence has such chaos reigned. We understand that financial
members Willncit be debarred from -A the pleasure they'have paid for, ' .-but ’nothing further can be done until a meeting is called to discuss situation, which, we hope, will no distant date. I') ■. . '. ■. ■. V— - '
