CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.

A meeting of the Council of the Chamber of Commerce was held m the Secretary’s office on Tuesday night. Present.: Messrs P. Hennessy (President), Dr Mandl, T. Rimmer, M. Perreau, Hornblow, and the Secretary (Mr P- H. RaeHoward). Correspondence was read from the Secretary of the Palmerston Chamber in reference to asking the Borough Council to appoint a delegate to act in conjunction with other delegates to wait upon the Manawatu County Council, urging upon that body the .necessity of putting the road : a't Himatangi and to the beach in; order. —The Borough the matter. i; - - From Mr John M.P., inf answer to .request for the erection of a verandah at the local railway station,... and enclosing Minister’s reply re same, the contents of which have already appeared in the Herald.— Mr Rimmer again urged, the necessity of-a verandah, but no further action was taken.

A letter was read from the District Traffic Manager, in reply to the Chamber’s letter pointing out
