ASIATIC IMMIGRATION.

London, January 20. Mr Winston Churchill, Undersecretary for the Colonies, who has been on a tour of the Mediterranean and East African Crown colonies and possessions, was entertained at a banquet by the National Liberal Club. In tfie course of a speech, referring to his travels, Mr Churchill said he was astonished at the beauty, lertility, and resources of the countries he had visited. He did not dispute the right of the Transyaal and of Australia to make what arrangements they thought necessary with respect to Asiatic immigration. It was entirely within the authority deliberately conceded to them by the House of Commons, and he hoped that the nation and Parliament would honestly try to grasp the colonists’ point of view and to understand their difficulties. Mr Churchill suggested that the equatorial provinces of Africa might supply a compensating field for the colonising enterprise of British Indians.
