CRICKET.
A Novel Match.
A novel cricket match as far as Moutoa is concerned, will be played there on Wednesday next. The novelty consists of ladles v. gentlemen, but the conditions under which the game will be placed are .similar to games of a Ike nature played elsewhere, viz., gents will bat with hockey sticks, bowl and field with the left hand, and the weaker sex (pardon the term) will play in the usual way. The following will be selected; Ladies —Misses A., J. and K. Bowe, K. and M. Smith, Puti Apiha, E. and M. Newth, R. Howe, A. and N. Walden, M. Cargill, K. Spelman, and Mrs Puti; gents. —O. add W. Cleland, T. W. and'J. Bowe, Peni, J. Joe, J. Walden, G. Rauhihi, J. Puti, and Redgrave. We anticipate a win for the ladies, rjjnongst whom there are more than one “debutantes.” The following have been selected to represent the Foxton Club against the Debaters at the local Park to-morrow :—Messrs Baillie, Furrie, Nelson, Watson, Nye, Martin, Whibley, Bullard, Cook, Robinson, and Gardner. A match is being arranged between a Foxton Representative team and a Palmerston N., (Wednesday players) Representative team. The match will probably take place at Palmerston N., the last Wednesday in present month.
