THE FASTING CRAZE.
Auckland, January 11. A. gentleman well known in " Auckland commenced a rigorous - fast-on Saturday morning last.. He presented himself to Dr Bakewell on Wednesday morning, having then fasted 96 hours. The doctor did not think he was fit to undertake any further fast, but he persevered until yesterday at 10 o’clock, when he again saw Dr Bakewell, and expressed intention of giving up the fast that day- Dr Bakewell examined his blood under the microscope, and found it in an extraordinary con- ■ ditioh, unexampled in his experience.
