JACK ASHORE. Auckland, January 10. Two men-o’-warsmen named Murtagh and Grant appeared at the Police Court this morning on a charge of causing a disturbance in the street last night. The Jack Tars we are using bad language to two ladies, and a constable and a civilian, who interfered, were roughly used. Mr Dyer, S.M., said he felt it his duty to teach the offenders and others a lesson. They were convicted on the charge of using obscene language, and were fined £*, 10s and costs each for the assault.
