NOVEL AND DESTRUCTIVE FIRE.
While a load of fibre was being conveyed from the bleaching ground to Mr O. E. Austin’s mill yesterday morning, it became ignited in Main St., and had to be tipped in order to save the cart and horses. The fibre, which was valued at from £\s to £2O, was totally and quickly destroyed. The driver, Lynes, denies that he was smoking, and, as a matter of fact, was complacently seated in front while the fire was raging at the rear of the cart. The origin of the fire is a mystery.
