Stewart, Vicars : church-warden, in a happy and characteristic speech, conveying ‘' t the expression of the parishioners’ : good-will respect, and esteem, the compliments of this festive season, and wishes for their long life and prosperity. The Vicar in reply to Mr «- • Stewart’s kind words, thanked the parishioners on behalf of himself ■ i and wife, for the pleasant evening and' handsome present they had given to them. He said that their love and devotion was to them a great source of happiness, and avas an act of love which would live or many years, and it did not natter how many socials and plantations they would have in their married life —this one of all others would stand out on the pages of their lives as the first and ‘ best —it was an honour paid to their unitttk lives. Ijhe two Church Wardens, Mr Stewart and Mr Easton, for the great help they had given him since he had come into the district. Their untiring zeal, their loyalty , to the Church, and their devotion - to himself was indeed an example * to all, of real Christian piety. In the, course of the evening Mr ( f • Woodward, on behalf of the ladies of*AID Saints’ Guild and friends, .made a presentation to Mrs S. Hickson, an old member, andwill- "<• ing helper in all church work, who is about to leave the district. Refreshments in abundance proV' vided by ladies of the Church, were J : ' then served and duly appreciated.
