PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT.
Ominous Signs. New York, Dec. 12. The World mentions the fact that at several big dinners that have taken place lately the toast of the President’s health has been drunk in studied and significant silence. The newspaper expresses the fear that Mr Roosevelt has committed grave mistakes in clamouring for revolutionary legislation, a larger army, and a more powerful navy ; and in making constant appeals to the jingo spirit and popular passions, thus arousing class hatred. The Sun declares that Mr Roosevelt ‘‘ is the most conscienceless and reckless demagogue the country has ever seen.”
