A TIMELY HINT.

Immediate action should be taken by the Borough Council in reference to amending the building bylaws, so far as the congested portion of Main Street is concerned, compelling persons erecting new structures to either build in brick or erect brick divisional walls. The latter entails no hardship on the owner because he saves the additional cost over and over again through- reduction on fire premiums! There are, however, wider interests to conserve. The efficacy of brick walls have, time and again, been the salvation of a block of buildings during a conflagration. We have no provision for combatting the firey elements and we shudder to think what the result would be should an outbreak occur in Main Street. It is the duty of the local authority to give this subject immediate attention.
