TAYLOR-CARRINGTON COMPANY.
With reference to the production of “Quid Ireland,” by the above company, in the Foxton Public Hall on Tuesday evening next, we reprint the following extract from an Australian paper: “When Charlie Taylor presented his star impersonation of Thady Brady in Quid Ireland, at the Theatre Royal, Melbourne, some years ago, he crushed out that unreal mockery the‘‘stage Irishman” in Australasia, just as effectively as Andrew Mack afterwards did in America, for his delineation of Irish character was so true to nature that playgoers, especially those who were Irish, quickly realised the difference between the real and the unreal, and' stamped so heavily with the iron heel of disapproval upon the ranting, roaring, redheaded monster that at the time did duty as the typical Irishman, that it quickly disappeared from the stage —let us hope never to return.”
