A man named John Houston, employed at Waikaka on the Piako lands, is missing. He left Morrinsville the other day for Waikaka. Subsequently his horse, with saddle and bridle on, was found. It is believed that Houston has been drowned in the Itorohoro Creek, which was in flood at the time. The police are making a search for the body. Houston is a stranger to New Zealand and hails from Australia. He is believed to be a single man. Auckland, This Day. A little girl, aged three years, daughter of S. W. House, a resident of Mangere, while playing with other children, fell over the verandah with the cord of the verandah blind around her neck. Attention was promptly directed to the accident by the cries of the other children. The cord was cut and a doctor sent for, but life was found to be extinct.
