A FORWARD MOVEMENT.

At last night’s Borough Council meeting, Cr Hennessy stated there were a number of by-streets in the borough which required attention in the matter of metalling. He thought the Council should raise a loan of £4OO or £SOO under the Loans to the Local Bodies Act and have these works put in hand. In his opinion the sum mentioned would be ample to complete the work and the money was advanced at the low rate of interest, viz. 3J2 per cent. Crs Wilson and Stiles concurred with Cr Hennessy. It was finally moved by Cr Stiles, seconded by Cr Hennessy, that the Public Works Committee prepare a list of roads that are at present unmetalled, and which require metalling, with a view of raising a small loan for this purpose tinder the Government Loans to IJbcal Bodies Act. The resolution was carried unanimously.
