To bs Granted a Telephone Exchange. We have received the following letter from Mr J. Stevens, member for the district, in reference to the agitation for a telephone exchange at Shannon : “In reference to your letter of the 30th July last, transmitting a petition from Mr K. F- Jeffries and thirty others for a telephone exshange at Shannon. I have the honour to inform you that the establishing of the desired exchange, which will give communication with Foxton, Levin, Palmerston North and intermediate stations has been authorised. The construction of the necessary line will be proceeded with as early as possible. The matter of telephonic communication between Shannon and Moutoa is under consideration.”—(Signed) J. G.
