Sub-Union Sports.
The weather happened fine overhead for the Sub-Union Sports on Saturday afternoon last, which were conducted in the presence of a fair number of interested spectators. Competition in the different events was fairly keen, especially in the handicap run, won by Bert Shadbolt, who only managed to get up in time to defeat Osboldstone, the others being close up. Messrs White (referee), P. McMinn (judge), and Wanklyn (handicapperi), are deserving bf credit for the manner in which they carried out their respective duties. Following are the results Seven-a-side Tourneys, Senior (Dr Mandl’s medals). — Awahou defeated Albions by five points to nil. Awahou team: J. Coley, Bert Osboldstone, P. Reihana, Bert Shadbolt (captain), J. Shea Shea, J. Reid, and W. Coley. Junior (Sub-Union medals). — Albions defeated Awahou by 9 points to nil. Albion team: W. Shields, A. Rimmer, R. Rimmer, J, Walker, A. Evans, Poheo, C. Cummer field. School Boys (Sub-Union medals).— Foxton A. defeated Foxton B. by 23 points to nil. Foxton A. '' team: P. Coley, G. Edwards, E. Westwood, W. Gray, W. Hennessy, J. Hennessy, and Percy Bjfeeves. Kicking (D. Heagerty’s medal).—W. Ashmore/ -*' • Drop Kicking (Mr Alf. Shadbolt’s medal). —J, Puti. Handicap Run (Jillett and Gillespie’s trophy).—Bert Shadbolt ■ (3yds) 1, Bert Osboldstone (9yds) ; .2- , :y • 1 All these trophies, together with ' the,Austin Banner, theColey (G.) Grip, and the Hickson/Qup, were presented to thje fespe.ct.ive, winners - -< by His ; Glower Esq.), President of the SubUniori, at the concert last evening. The two former trophies were won by the Awahou Seniors, while the Albion Juniors became the holders of the latter trophy for Hthe season.
