ORGAN RECITAL.
It is greatly to be deplored that there was such a small attendance in All Saints’ Church on Thursday night, to hear the organ recital given by Mr Mihvard Anderson. Those who did attend, however, had a most pleasant time, the performer proving himself to be an adept on the finest of all instruments. The male members of the choir were in their accustomed places, but the ladies were spread all over the church, evidently preferring to hear the choice items from the body of the 6 builbing. There were eight pieces rendered in a most creditable manner. The gem of these was undoubtedly the Andantino in D flat, composed by that prince of organists, E. H. Lemare. The pathetic, soft, notes blended with harmony, were rendered to perfection. The Toccato (Dubois) was a somewhat difficult piece, but the organist was equal . to the task. The March in F (Wallis) is somewhat akin to Scots on Clark’s Marche de Flambeaux, and was very inspiring. The remaining items may all be classed as good suitable music. A collection was taken up during the singing of the second hymn, and proved to be of a satisfactory nature, considering L the small attendance. The bene- '
diction closed the ceremony. The wish is expressed that Mr Anderson will pay this town another visit before long, and give us another treat, in which case.it is hoped the church will be filled.
