MISSING ARCTIC EXPEDITION.
London, September 18. Grave fears are entertained for the safety of Dr William Bruce’s Scottish Arctic expedition to Spitzbergen, which was last reported at Foreland Sound, Spitzbergen. [Dr William Speirs Bruce, F.R.G.S., who is 40 years of age, has had much experience of Polar exploration. He was naturalist to the Dundee Antarctic expedition, 1892-3 ; zoologist to the JacksonHarmsworth Polar expedition. 1896-7; naturalist to Mr Andrew Coat’s expedition to Zemlya, Wiche Islands, and Parent's Sea, 1898 ; again naturalist, 1906, Spitzbergen ; naturalist toH.R.H. the Prince of Monaco’s expedition, Spitzbergen and North Polar regions, 1898-99, 1902-04 ; was leader of the Scottish National Antarctic expedition, discovering Coat’s Land, 150 miles off the Antarctic continent.]
