THE MONTE CARLO MURDER.

Dramatic Scenes. Monte Carlo, September 12. Dramatic scenes were witnessed in the Goolds’ flat at Monte Carlo, whither the prisoners were conducted. MrsGoold, when confronted with saws and other articles used in dismembering Mrs Levin’s body, repeatedly exclaimed : “ lam innocent. I fainted and know nothing. My husband did it all.” She flatly contradicted all witnesses. Vere Goold, who was calm and collected declared, contrary to his wife’s allegations, that Mrs Levin was invited to the villa, and both advanced to welcome her, offering her liquor. Goold says he brought a tray, which bis wife held out to Mrs Levin while he struck her. When their victim was dead they dragged her body to the box room. When trying to clear his wife, Goold stated that she entered while he finished the work. When the magistrate questioned the wife regarding the discrepancies in her evidence and that of her husband’s she tried to intimidate the magistrate : “I will have England claim me,” A crowd collected outside the villa, and after the examination they broke through a line of carbineers and pursued the prisoners’ carriage, threatening to lynch them.
