MANAWATU COUNTY COUNCIL.

, The monthly meeting of the Manawatu County Council was held at Sanson yesterday.

It was decided to sue for a number of outstanding tramway accounts.

The Council confirmed the special order authorising a loan of for the erection of the Shannon bridge, and making a special rate of one-sixtieth of a pennjr over the whole county, to secure interest thereon.

A special rate of one farthing was also made to secure interest on the loan for the Ohakea protective works.

The engineer reported that all the roads were in good order for the time of the year. The treasurer reported the state of the accounts to be as follows : General account, dr £3350 ; loan account, cr The amounts available for expenditure from the riding accounts were —Sandon Mount Stewart Waitohi ,£lO4, Rongotea Carnarvon Kawakawa £BO, Awahou Whirokino ,£lO4. It was shown by the tramway manager that the tramway account had a credit balance of 12s. He reported that the amount of traffic had been good, especially that in timber, of which 7650 ft had been carried. This was nearly equal to the record. The accounts passed for payment totalled ,£747.
