A RUSSIAN CRIME.
Venich, September 9.
A Russian named Naumoff has been arrested on a charge of fatally shooting Count Kamarowski, another Russian, at Venice. The latter’s life was insured for in favour of the divorced Russian Countess Tarnouska, aged twenty-six, to whom he was betrothed. The latter and her lawyer, Prilukoff, have been arrested here on a charge of collusion in connection with the murder. The Countess alleges that Naumoff, a young married man, was passionately in love with her and was determined to kill Kamarowski. She sent Prilukoff with a detective to protect the Count and prevent murder, but Prilukoff confessed that her extravagance had ruined him and driven him to rob his clients. She then planned the murder to obtain Kamarowski’s insurance, Prilukoff and she desiring thereafter to marry. She added that Naumoff was a mere tool in her hands. The Countess Tarnouska confesses complicity in the murder, but describes Prilukoff as the originator of the crime.
