MONTGOMERY ENTERTAINERS.

The above company, who give one of their popular entertainments in the Public Hall on Tuesday evening next, are spoken of by the Gisborne paper, which says:—A crowded house greeted Mr Montgomery’s entertainers on the opening of their Gisborne season at His Majesty’s Theatre last night, and the programme presented amply fulfilled the high expectations of the audience. Three excellent entertainments, really, were combined in the one. There were beautiful moving and coloured pictures, vocal and instrumental music, and comicalities that provided plenty of laughter. The programme opened with the moving pictures of t “Parsifal,” the play which has \ been attracting great attention, and which is noted for its scenic splendour. This grand picture, or rather unbroken series of pictures, was splendidly shown and was watched with very keen interest, as the impressive views were exhibited. It was followed by a most popular -picture named “Black Beauty,” in which a handsome black horse figures prominently, and by a display of extraordinary intelligence, brings succour to his master, who has been assailed by robbers. After a highly diverting picture, “A Moonlight Dream,” in the course of which a bibulous individual makes a voyage to the moon, the match “ All Blacks ” v. Australia, was shown. This picture was a remarkably fine one, and those who had the good fortune to be among the 52,000 people who witnessed the match, yet from their \ seats in the hall were able to get, i in some respects, perhaps a better £ view of the play than if they had been present during the match. As the players strode on to the ground members of the audience were able to name different individuals, and at times much enthusiasm was shown. The features of the play were finely shown, and the All Blacks, who were frequently cheered, had a very partial audience last night. The box office is now open at Levett’s.
