BOROUGH COUNCIL.
A special meeting of the above was held on Tuesday evening.— Present his worship the Mayor (B. G. Gower Esq)., and Crs Baker, Colejq Gray, Hennessy, and Wilson. Cr. Coley withdrew shortly after the opening of the meeting. 'After some discussion, Cr Hennessy moved and Cr Baker seconded , ‘ ‘ That this Council will, in order that the site in Cook street be obtained, meet Mr Butcher in the amount of provided that a half-acre is selected. Proposed by Cr Baker and seconded by Cr Wilson, “ that in the event of Mr Butcher failing to obtain site in Cook street, that Mr Easton’s propertj r be approved, subject to a right-of-way being assured from either Main or Cook streets for carting.”—Carried.
It was decided, on the motion of Cr Gray, seconded by Cr Wilson, to inform Mr Butcher that the Council cannot see its way clear to grant an extension of time-re erection of works, asked for by Mr Butcher.
The proposed plan of reticulation as forwarded was approved, subject to mains extending to sites of all street lamps as now lit. •
