HOCKEY.

At a meeting held recently, the Foxton Hockey Association decided to wind up the season with a five aside tournament to be played in Mr Symons’ paddock, Foxton, on the 28th inst., starting at 2.30 p.m. The prizes are 10 gold medals, designed by Mr Rough. The pattern will consist of two hockey sticks crossed, with a ball in the centre, and a hockey pad as a back ground. There will he five medals for the winners of the gents., and five for the ladies. Nominations close to-night. At present there nine teams entered —six men’s and three ladies’. Mr A. K. Drew, who has kindly consented to act as referee, has had a lot to do with hockey in Palmerston North, and has represented Mauawatu several times. The Association are to be congatulated in securing his services. After the matches a dinner and concert will be held in Mr Perreau’s rooms.
