FOOTBALL.
A benefit football match; in order to raise funds for the unfortunate Albion player, McEwen, who had the misfortune to break his leg during the progress of a match at the early part of the season, and which it was found necessary to aihputate, will take place on the Racecourse on Saturday next. The teams will represent the Albion and the Awahou Clubs, and a good game is anticipated. It is hoped that the public will attend in large numbers and so assist an unfortunate player. Admission is ladies 6d. The following team will represent Albions against Awahou in the benefit match, on Saturday, f24th August, at Foxton :—Full/back, Bono; % ; Kene Pouawha, Mack Royal, J. Frankland; Momo ; G. Robinson ; forwards: J. Bowe, A. Berton, D. Mullins, W. Chalk, J. Desmond, W. Hunter, Hana, A. Tartana, F. Robinson ; emerg.: T. Erura, J. Williams, W. Marsh, W. and A. Cook. Auckland, August 20. George Smith received a cable before departing for Sydney, stating that the New Zealanders’ net profits on the first professional match were ,£3OO.
