Annual meeting.
By Telegraph—Special to Herald. Wanganui, This Day. At the annual meeting held last night, Mr F. Piraui was reelected chairman. Mr Cargill, the new member for the Northern District, was introduced to the Board and took his seat. The members present were Messrs Bennett, Dixon, Fraser, Guthrie, Pirani, Purnell, Smith, Spurdle and Cargill. Accounts were passed for payment , general account ,£l9l 17 s 6d, building account ,£331 14s Bd, Wanganui technical school ,£251 18s 2d. Resignations were received as follows :—E. Lyall, Oroua Bridge ; M. Bourke, K. M. Alcorn, Meremere ; E. Hicks, Mataroa. Appointments were made as follows: E. J. McDonnell, South Makirikiri; Miss Lynch, Newbury ; Miss Montgomery, Carnarvon. A vote of thanks was passed to the late member, Mr G. Carson, for his past services to education and was ordered to be recorded on the Board’s minutes. Leave of absence was granted to A. Goldsmury, Maxwell ; N. A. Crabbe, Matapu ; D. Brennand, Brownlee ; H. Black, Hawera ; J. Blair, Wanganui; M. Tyerman, Aramoho; B. Gage, St. John’s; Strachan, Halcombe. Resolved that Miss Wanklyn be informed that the Board consider her explanation quite satisfactory. Sandon and Bulls Committees to be requested to confer re proposed High School and the Rongotea Committee be requested to apply again in three months after the annual examination re High School. Campbell-Street drainage to be seen to as soon as Government assistance is obtained. Mr G. Carson was nominated for the seat on the Board of Advice to Training College. Mr Alf. Fraser was instructed to visit Oroua Bridge School and report on the application for levelling and improving the school grounds. Committees were set up as follows :—Finance, Messrs Bennett, Fraser, Pirani and Purnell ; reports, Messrs Cargill, Fraser, Guthrie, Pirani and Smith ; Building, Messrs Dixon, Pirani and Spurdle ; Technical and selection, the Board as a whole. It was decided that after the Ist October the Board meet the first Wednesday in the month and Board' of College Governors on the third Wednesday in the month.
