ATTEMPTED ROBBERY.
Thames, August 19. An attempt was made to rob the bullion safe at the May Queen battery. The doors of the battery and the safe room were opened, and an attempt- made to blow up the safe. A'charge of gelignite was placed in the hole, with the object of dislodging the lock.
