MOUTOA NOTES.

Own Correspondent. The fifth match of the season between the Moutoa and Foxton Hockey Clubs, was played at Moutoa on Wednesday, and resulted in a win for the home team by five goals to two. As neither side had its best team in the field, the game from a spectator’s point of view, was very disappointing. The teams seemed more bent on playing the man instead of the ball, and in consequence, there was considerable ill-feeling displayed. The refereeing was very poor, and led to players getting out of control. For the winners E. Pene, W. Smith, and J. Bowe played well; and for the losers Bert Shadbolt, G. Dunn, and W. Shields got in some good work, one goalthey scored being the result of a fine bit of play. The young ladies of Moutoa gave a most enjoyable dance on Wednesday evening, which was well attended by the local residents.
