VATICAN FINANCE.
£200,000 a year for the Pope.
A Rome message to the “ Figaro ’ ’ announces that the Roman Catholic Bishops of Canada and the United States have promised an annual offering of ,£200,000 to the Pope. The new offering is very opportune, for Peter’s Pence receives very little from France now, the contributions from other sources are becoming smaller, and the annual expenditure of the Vatican is stated to be ,£280,000.
