SAD FATALITY AT OHAU.
Yesterday morning, says the Farmer, a very sad occurrence took place on the farm ofMr A. Palmer, of the Kuku road, Ohau, the victim being Mr Palmer himself, a man of 69 years of age and a bachelor. He had made up his mind to give up farming and live a quiet life, and a sale of his stock is advertised to take place on Tuesday next. He appeared in his usual good spirits early yesterday , morning, and after milking the cows and feeding the pigs said he would go and shoot two roosters that had been around his dwelling. He was next found, about 9 a.m., in the passage leading out ot his home, weltering in blood. A doubled-barrelled gun was at his side, and his face was blown away. He was still alive, and all haste was made to telephone to Devin for a doctor, but during the delay which followed the old , man passed aWay. How the accident happened no one knows. Mr Palmer was well known and popular, hale and hearty, and his death was a shock to the communitv.
