THE CATHOLIC MISSION.
The Catholic Mission being conducted by Father Craig is meeting with fair success. The local services are well attended, particularly in the evening. This is the first mission the Rev. Father has conducted in New Zealand, and Foxton congregations are comparatively small to what has obtained in other lands where he has been engaged in similar work. He has laboured in England, Ireland, Scotland, the Philippine Islands, and Australia. Father Craig is a son cf the Emerald Isle, and is gifted with that eloquence for which the cultured Irishman is famous. When he settles down to his subject he is fired with enthusiasm, and 1 ‘ members of the flock ” sit bolt upright as he sends forth his shafts of home truths. Here and there flashes of Irish humour set the corners of the mouth twitching. The mission will close at the end of the week.
