HOOLIGANISM AT SANSON.
We desire to draw the attention of the police and the Foxton SubUnion to the disgraceful scenes which are alleged to have taken place at Sanson, on Saturday, after the A.lbion-Sanson football match. It is alleged that the conduct and behaviour of certain players and spectators was disgraceful in the extreme. Free fights were numerous, and one Foxton Sub-Union official had his hand severely bitten in the melee. It is further alleged that riotous behaviour took place on licensed premises. It is such unsportsmanlike conduct and blackguardism that brings Rugby into disrepute. If Sanson is “ too warm a spot” in which to play the game, then the Sub-Union should not allow any matches, for a time at least, to be decided there. Is there a constable stationed at Sanson ? If so, where was he on Saturday afternoon and evening ? We have sufficient confidence in Sergt. Bowden to believe that he will probe the matter thoroughly, and we feel sure that the SubUnion will do its part.
