AMERICA AND JAPAN.
Nkw York, July 12
Admiral Yamamoto was banquetted at New York, and stated that the commercial and other intimacies of the two nations were too close and cordial to permit trifling accidents to destroy them. A slight cloud was apparent, but would soon disperse. Japan trusted to America’s high sense of j ustice.
Tokio, July 12
Marquis Ito’s newspaper states that it is difficult to accept the assurance that the coming of the fleetj for manoeuvres in the Pacific is not connected with the situation between Japan and America, and adds: “We regret that Washington thinks it necessary to take a precautionary measure, though we do not attach serious importance to the matter. ’ ’ New York, July 12.
