A COUNTY COUNCIL MATTER.

The Feilding Star is annoyed because the Chairman of the Manawatu County Council has not taken the trouble to supply it with the annual report, which has been given to a journal published many miles outside the district. The Star has decided to pocket the insult in consideration for Manawatu County ratepayers. The same thing applies to this journal, and the sooner Chairman Wilson recognises that his friend’s paper (Rangitikei Advocate) is not the principal advertising medium in the Manawatu County, the better. P'or many years the journal above referred to has enjoyed the special

favour of the Council, and other newspapers have occasionally had a “hone” thrown to them. The ratepayers in the southern end of the County are of equal importance to those in the north, and the Herald (published within and not without the County) is the medium by which these ratepayers are served. Further, we would remind the Chairman of the Council that the Hkkald is as competent, and as well equipped to print balance sheets, and other documents required by the Council, as the “ Advocate.” We hope Chairman Wilson in future will have a little more consideration for the County as a whole, and not a particular corner of it.
