ROYAL VISIT TO IRELAND.
*- Enthusiastic Welcome.
London, July 10
.King Edward, Queen Alexandra, and the Princess Victoria arrived in Dublin yesterda\ r , and met with an enthusiastic welcome. They paid a visit to the Exhibition.
Responding to an address of welcome, his Majesty said he rejoiced that the Exhibition had proved successful in promoting the commercial and industrial prosperity of Ireland. After a long inspection, especially of the Irish industries section, the Royal visitors drove through the principal streets of Dublin, which were conspicuously decorated. The drive was made amid a continuous roar of cheering and the fluttering of handkerchiefs. Tnere was not a note of dissent.
Their Majesties ’were greatly pleased at the cordiality of the reception.
Later the distinguished visitors attended a garden party at the Vice-Regal Lodge. While at the Exhibition the King and Queen spent some time in the New Zealand Comt, and conversed with Mr Reeves, High Commissioner for New Zealand.
Their Majesties were much interested in the photographs of red deer when they were informed the late Prince Consort presented the earliest specimens of red deer to New Zealand. Their Majesties also inspected the cold storage exhibits.
