ALLEGED MURDER.

Young man attacks his

uncle.

Whangarei, July 2

Mervyn Karl Bradshaw was charged at the Whangarei Court on Tuesday with the attempted murder of Allen Edward Bissett at Opuawhanga. He was remanded for eight days as Bissett’s condition is critical. Accused is single and aged 23' He is a nephew of Bissett’s and worked at the 1 tier’s flaxmill. It is alleged he attacked Bissett with a sheath knife and drove it to the hilt in the left side and inflicted other serious wounds in the back and arms. James Aldred, who rushed to the rescue, was also attacked, but wrested the knife from the accused. There is very faint hope of Bissett’s recovery. Auckland July 3. Bradshaw, charged with the attempted murder of his uncle (Bissett) at Opuawhanga, was missed from the steamer Aupouri, while being brought to Auckland by a constable. Presumably he is drowned. Whangarei, July 3. Bissett, the victim of the stabbing case is still alive, but in a very precarious condition. There is some faint hope of his recovery if there is no change for the worse during the next two or three days.
