IMPORTANT TO ORCHARDISTS.

Mr Simms, the Government Orchard Inspector, was in Foxton yesterday. In cbnversation with our representative, he stated that the Government intends to enforce the provisions of the “ Orchord and Garden Pest Act, 1903.” He stated that orchardists had been given every opportunity to become acquainted with the - Act and that unless effective measures are taken to comply with its requirements by owners of fruit trees prosecutions will follow. Mr Simms will revisit Foxton in about a fortnights time, when all orchards and gardens will be inspected and offenders dealt with. We issueithis timely warning to settlers to prepare them “ against the evil day ’ ’
