FOOTBALL.
Awahou defeated Rongotea on Saturday afternoon, by nine points (three unconverted tries) to nil. The game wds good humouredly contested, and cohtrolled by Mr J. Frew as referee. At Sandon, Albions were defeated by the locals by six points to three. Sandon scored two tries early in the game, while Fred Robinson kicked a penalty goal for Albions in the second half. Mr E. Sutherland refereed. Great interest is being centred in the rep. match here next Saturday, Manawatu v. Foxton. The local reps, play Allcomers on the racecourse to-morrow afternoon. Foxton play in blue and black, and all those possessing these colours are requested to wear same. Messrs E. Wanklyn, F. Woods, and W. Pinney have picked the following team to do battle for Foxton :—Full-back, George (Sandon); {, Frankland and Moma (Albions), S. Richardson (Sandon); 5/s, Redgrave (Awahou), M. Royal (Albions) ; G. Robertson (Albions) ; forwards : wing, J. Richardson (Sandon), Bowe (Albions), G. Williams (Sandon), Anderson (Rongotea), Shadbolt, Hooker, Reid, W. Robinson (Awahou). Emergencies, backs: Osboldstone (Awahou), Thompson (Sandon); forwards, backs, Williams (Sandon), Wright (Awahou). The selectors have chosen Redgrave as captain. The, Secretary of the Awahou Football Club acknowledges, with thanks, a donation from Mr George Gray. The following Manawatu representative team was selected on Saturday night to play against Foxton sub-Union at Foxton next Saturday ;—Fullback, J.'Hughes ; threequarters, Carroll, Stalker, Goodbehere; five-eights, Pirani and Skelley ; half, Ongley ; wing forward, Boon, forwards, Wingate, Ward, Whisker, McNae, Smith, Taylor, R. Waldegrave. Emergencies—Backs, Trevena, Hall, Anslow and Vallance ; forwards, Kyle, Belfit, Kelly, Reid, and Munro.
