Berlin, June 12. A volunteer fire brigade at Sie- ' benlehn, a town of about 3600 people, in Saxony, eight miles from Freiberg, has been arrested for numerous cases of incendiarism. It is declared that the brigade is acting with the secret sanction of the municipality, which desires to * rebuild the town at the expense of the insurance companies. London, June 12. The Times states that there is good reason to believe that, in pursuance of the recent suggestion of Mr Balfour, leader of the Opposition, the militia will be preserved and will form part of the third or fourth battalions at present allotted to the special contingent. Capetown, June 12. The Orange River Colony leaders, Abraham Fischer and Judge Herzog, condemn the reservation of the control of native affairs under the new Constitution granted to the colony. They declare that the existence of two masters will not conduce to finality or peace. New York, June 13. In the .course of the trial of Moyer, Hayward, and Pettibone k ; for the murder of ex-Goveruor 1 Steunenberg, Orchard testified he / planned to blow up a boardinghouse at Globeville where 15° unionists, were living, but Haywood discountenanced it, and the plan was dropped.
