A MYSTERIOUS DEATH.
Napier, June 12. The inquest on Alice Caroline Simpson, a jmnng married woman, who died suddenly about three weeks ago, was resumed yesterda}*-, when the report of the Colonial Analyst on the contents of her stomach was available. The Analyst found a minute trace of a strong blistering irritant, but too small to identify. Fie suggested that it might be cantharidin. Further evidence failed to elicit any information as to how the poison could have been taken by deceased, as she was partly an invalid, and there was nothing of a poisonous nature about the house. The jury found that death was due to inflammation, accelerated by some irritant, how obtained there was no evidence to show.
