TO NATURE.

The following appears in the current number of the Church Chronicle: — Nurse me again in thine endeared anus, And fan with perfumed zephyrs softly light My wearied head so full of earth’s alarms And hide away ray sorrow in the night. Ope with thine hand the windows of my soul, That I may see thy face in sweetest smile ; , And watch the gathering giant clouds that roll Through airy space which mirrored blue awhile. Give me thine .ear that I may understand The magic music which the brooklet plays Upon its liquid lyre o’er silver sand : The note which lingers round the soul and stays. Give me thy grace to meet the lips of flowers, And drink from petal cups the wine of gods ; Quickening the growth of love with scented showers, Like gentle rain in spring on grassy sods, Lead me within thyself to lovliness, ’Mid beauties moulded by seraphic might — Where I may flee the world and cold distress, And taste ot naught but thee, my soul’s delight. —G.Y.W. Foxton, April xoth, 1907.
