FOOTBALL.

Senior Cup Competitions.

On Saturday last Albions played ■ a big team in the field which dek,, feated a particularly strong combination from Sandon by six points to nil, after a splendidly contested game. Both backs and forwards of each side worked with a will and provided an interesting tussle for spectators —a fact to be relished, as the previous games of the season were neither more nor less than of the farcical order. The honours of the match rest with one Mona, a native who had previously earned a big reputation in Australia with Te Aute College, and who should have no difficulty in finding a place in the Manawatu reps. His display was perfect, his form good. Fraukland, Williams, Howan, Robinson, Bowe, Rimmer and others played well, especially the former who is the makings of a good player. For the losers, Richardson Bros., George, Hartley, Sanson, McNae and Williams did good service, though the latter would do well not to continue his deliberate pointing oh the line-out. Constable Woods held the whistle and kept his men well under control. Mona and Frankland were the try getters. i At Rongotea, Awahou defeated I the locals by 12 points to 3, after ' an interesting game in which Rongotea forwards shone conspicuously. Mr F. Robinson refereed. The Sub-union meet to-morrow night at the Mauawatu Hotel to consider protests, draw secondround fixtures, etc. The Foxtori schoolboys defeated Sandon on the local schoolground on Saturday by 24 to nil. Mr E. Dunn refereed. Manawatu reps, are billed to meet Foxton at Foxton on June 22nd. The gate-takings on Saturday did not represent the crowd, and those observed on the ground by the gatekeeper who did not pass through the gates must do so in future, as the price is only 6d.

In the North v. South Island match played at Christchurch, the Northerners came off victorious by yli points to nil. Y Wellington reps, defeated Wairarapa reps, at Wellington yesterday by 13 points to nil.
