RUSSIAN AFFAIRS.
St Petersburg, May 20. A number of political prisoners attacked the guardsiand attempted to escape from the Central Prisons, Warsaw. Soldiers fired, killing three and wounding two. The Magistrates’! inquiry into the recent conspirators ’ plot showed that the intention was to kill the Czar, M. Stolypm (premier) and the Grand Duke Nicholas, with a view to o verthrowing the monarchial regime. Numerous dangerous accomplices escaped. St Petersburg, May 21. M. Stolypin, replying in the Duma to a previously announced interpellation, confirmed the recent account of revolutionary and socialist plot against the Czar, the Grand Duke Nicholas, and M. Stolypin, and the arrest of conspirators for concerting measures to enter the imperial residence.
The Duma passed a resolution unanimously expressing joy at the Czar’s escape and abhorrence of the regicidal plot. The Socialist and Labour members were absent from the Duma.
