FOOTBALL.

The football on the racecourse on Saturday last was not of a very high order, mostly forward work being indulged in. The game was so one-sided that Awahou finally vanquished Albions by 28 points to nil. The shining star was Shadbolt (captain of Awahou), who played with great dash and form. He himself notched three tries, while Redgrave, Wright, Reid, Spiers, and Dunn each scored, three being convertedMr R. Newth captainted the Albious, who did not have anything like their best team in the field. Constable F. Woods made an impartial referee. At Rongotea, Sandon defeated the locals by 14 to 3, though the points do not indicate the nature of the game, which was of an even character. Mr F. Robinson gave every satisfaction as referee. Rongotea and Albions should fight out an even game at the race course on Saturday. The first of the junior games takes, place to-morrow, when Albions and Awahou are fitted against each other on the race course. Awahou bid well to bring the Austin banner back to Foxton this season.
