THE LATE MR E. M. SMITH.

New Plymouth, April 21. At an inquest on the body of the late Mr E. M. Smith, M.H.R., yesterday, a verdict of accidental death was returned, the jury expressing sympathy with the bereaved wife and family. A large number of telegrams of sympathy have been received from members of Parliament and the Cabinet, including the ActingPremier and Mr Massey. The Government has ordered a military funeral at the interment of the late Mr E. M. Smith, M.H.R. Mr Smith served in the Imperial and Colonial troops as an armourer. Cabinet will be represented' «.l the funeral by the Acting-Premier, Mr Hall-Jones, and Mr Carroll.
