CORRESPONDENCE.

We do not hold ourselves responsible .for opinions expressed by oiir correspondents.

To the Editor. Sir, —l was at the School Committee meeting last nighty and was very pleased Mr Baker brought before the meeting the erection of the building the Wanganui. Education Board is putting up for the headmaster. Such a building should be called a “ bushshanty,” and is an absolute disgrace to the architect who designed it. The very carpenters blush when they look at their work, and say it is a waste of good sound timber! , The site is a good one, and to. erect such a ‘ ‘ shanty ’ ’ in our main street should not be allowed by our court of guild. I think it is not yet too late to protest against its erection. This is on a par with the actions of by gone days, when the Board used to send to Foxton School the old dilapidated desks taken out of other up country schools and dumped on to us, but I trust those bad old days are gone for ever. As we have now, in Mr Alf. Fraser, a pushing townsman to represent, us on the Wanganui Education Board, I am sure he will not allow this building to go on without protestation and I think he should be asked to wire the Board at once. Trusting you will find a corner in your valuable and very much improved paper. —I am etc., The McTavish.
