Rome, April, 18. Owing to hostility encountered in Berlin and Vienna, Italy will withdraw her compromise proposal, which was intended to facilitate the discussion of Sir H. Campbell-Bannerman’s limitation of armaments proposal at the Hague Convention. Amsterdam, April 18. The newspaper Vaterland, published at the Hague, remarks that the beautiful but theoretical prospects opened by England’s declarations have vanished, but the consequences of a r breach of the Triple Alliance might have been greater still.
